Hey..my friend and I are planning to hike to Broken Top and I want to follow your route because I think it is doable for is and your description of the route is very clear. Is there by chance you can share me your route in AllTrail so we can use it as a guide during the hike (so we won’t get lost..haha). We are planning to hike it at the end of September.

In reply to Steve. There is still quite a bit of snowpack in June and may even stay until July. The later the better I'd recommend. I would recommend looking back on the trail notes on All Trails to get a better report.

Great hike guide, thanks. Did you not encounter mosquitoes on the hike at all? We were out there mid last July and tried to do Horse Lake via Horse Lake, Red Hill, Sunset Lake, and ended up having to turn around because it was literally the craziest amount of mosquitoes I’ve ever seen in my life. PCT hikers that were fully netted were running back.

We’re headed back out this year at the same time and I wanted to plan out some wonderful hikes in advance because it seems that so many great hikes are now crowded and some even require an advanced booking or you get kicked out at the parking lot. Not like back in the day when I grew up around there when we had the trails all to ourselves.

What time of year do you recommend the Broken Top Hike? Can it be done end of June early July?
