Thanks for all of the info! Where can I source maps of the BLM lands in the northeast? We are going there in September and having trouble finding them like I did with the book that you recommended for the western states. That book is great by the way!!

In reply to Tracy Johnson. Buy the BLM maps for anywhere you might go. I just today received my twelve (12) oregon maps, they're huge, front and back. I'm still learning as I haven't gone since I was a kid and camped with my dad, who was in the BLM. I hope to go into the BLM office tomorrow to talk and get some specifics. Like can I bring a small 13' trailer and run a generator in the winter, for heat or is that just not cool or allowed.

Interesting that you didn’t make this BLM & National Forest. Almost everything you said about BLM goes for NF lands.
